Landscape & Hardscape

Landscape: The overarching term for the design and arrangement of an outdoor area. Specifically, it often refers to the soft elements (softscape): all the living, changing materials like plants, trees, shrubs, flowers, and grass.

Hardscape: The non-living, permanent, and structural elements of an outdoor space. This includes materials like stone, concrete, wood, and structures such as patios, walkways, retaining walls, and decks.
